For the first time in the World Championships, we were able to enter a supervets mens's team - and they really showed that age is just a number! They were absolutely incredible finishing 7th overall, out of 43 teams. For them to come 7th in the world is a phenomenal achievement! In gig rowing terms, we are still a relatively new club and with an average age of 63, and with a stoke rower aged 72, it’s an absolutely brilliant achievement. This has put Portishead firmly on the map in gig rowing beating some long established and top clubs in the process. JB set the pace, showing experience really does count - he lead the crew brilliantly with the raw power coming from the boys behind. Nancy coxed the team brilliantly, keeping them going and avoiding all possible issues.
