PPGC has had a fantastic summer or rowing, taking part in a variety of regattas, travelling around the cost from Poole all the way round to Ilfracombe and Clovelly. Each regatta had it's challenges and level of competition, but at each of them PPGC put everything into every row and showed what a fanastic club we really are.
Highlights included wins for the mens crew at Ilfracombe with the ladies vets performing strongly against some really top crews. At the ladies vets championships they put in an incredible performance too to show they are a crew to be watched! At all regattas it was so positive to see so many of our new rowers getting stuck in and performing brilliantly.
Challenges included the logistics of getting gigs in and out of the tiny village of Clovelly, but nothing a good beer and a few shanties couldn't help with!
Poole was a brand new regatta, with longer rows (6k and 8k) making it different and more challenging.We really made use of the good weather, and a post regatta swim is fast becoming a club tradition.
With the North Coast league about to restart, we are looking forward to some more competitive rowing, albeit in colder conditions!
