As a club, we are missing our rowing. We can't wait to be back on the boat when it is safe, but we are certainly keeping up our fitness and team work until then. For us, being part of a club is just as much about being part of team and a family as well as keeping fit and rowing. We've found so many ways of keeping everyone together over the last 7 months and new groups and ideas keep springing up all the time. We've done challenges to keep everyone motivated, which has ranged from netball to skipping to pull ups to darts! We have regular groups doing: Cycling Open water swimming Pilates Circuits Walking Zoom rowing (erging) Social meet ups Running "There are so many groups to chose from and it's so social. Its been a real support knowing there is so much to join in with. It's helped me improve my fitness too, and has been great for my mental health. I've only been rowing for a year, and this has really helped me to get know other people in the club I probably wouldn't have seen in normal circumstances. Being part of the club has been amazing and such a positive support in such difficult times. " Said Isobel Jones, a member of the vet squad. Will Cogley, chair of PPGC, said "It's been brilliant to see the club pull together and support each other in so many different ways. The Gig Club is so much more than just rowing, and to see members try different skills, improve their fitness and have a lot of fun in the process has been amazing." We are not sure when we will get back to rowing, so these groups are proving invaluable in keeping everyone together.
